Pediatric Services

Cornerstone Family Medicine provides pediatric services for lots and lots of children. We take care of most of the babies we deliver, babies born with out of hospital midwives and babies delivered in hospitals with other obstetricians. We take care of children from birth all the way into adulthood.

Dr. Stafford believes the vast majority of children are very healthy and need very little intervention from the medical establishment to stay that way. He spends most of his time encouraging parents to keep up the good job they are doing caring for their children. He understands that every family has its unique needs and strives to find answers within the context of each family.

Dr. Stafford and his wife have raised four of their own children and he says that he learned more about real world child care while his own children were growing up, than he ever learned in a medical school classroom. He and his wife homeschooled their children for many years and have also had their children in a traditional school setting. As such, he is comfortable discussing the challenges of parenting regardless of the form of education being provided.

Cornerstone Family Medicine provides all of the standard immunizations, but we also have the philosophy that the parents should be the ones to decide what immunizations are appropriate for their child. There is much controversy surrounding immunizations and we will work with you as you decide your position on this challenging issue.

Should a serious health issue arise and specialty care is needed, we can refer the child to a large number of pediatric specialists within our area.
